Lower Sabie Camp

This is undoubtedly one of the most popular camps in the Kruger- and with good reason; the wildlife here is prolific and it’s an excellent spot to see the Big Five.

In addition, it occupies a wonderful location on the banks of the Sabie River. The camp is covered with magnificent old trees shading the vast lawn areas.

Things to do or see:
•Because of the old sycamore trees with their fruit in season, dominating the camp area, birdlife is abundant.
•Elephant, hippo, buffalo and other game congregate at the water to drink and are easily viewed from camp.
•All members of the Big Five are present in good numbers throughout the area.
•Wild dog and cheetah are also frequently encountered in the area.
•Morning and sunset drives can be booked.
•Guided early morning walks provide you with an excellent opportunity to encounter black- and white rhino on foot.

Crocodile Bridge Camp

Formerly the hub of the old Sabie reserve and one of Kruger’s first four ranger posts, Crocodile Bridge is now a small gate camp 10 kilometres from Komatipoort.

The camp is situated on the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the old railroad bridge – from whence it gets its name.
When the ever popular Lower Sabie Camp is full, Crocodile Bridge makes a comfortable alternative.

Things to do or see:
•This area is densely populated with game because of the sweet grass plains dotted with large Marula trees and Knobthorn acacias. These attract an abundance of grazers and browsers, which is inevitably followed by an entourage of predators.
•The big five are often spotted in this area.
•The hippo pool on route S27 is also a highlight and an armed ranger takes you down to the water’s edge about 3km further, allowing you close-up sightings of hippos wallowing in a small pool on the Crocodile River.
•Morning and sunset/night drives may be booked at reception.
