Crocodile Bridge Camp
Formerly the hub of the old Sabie reserve and one of Kruger’s first four ranger posts, Crocodile Bridge is now a small gate camp 10 kilometres from Komatipoort.
The camp is situated on the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the old railroad bridge – from whence it gets its name.
When the ever popular Lower Sabie Camp is full, Crocodile Bridge makes a comfortable alternative.
Things to do or see:
•This area is densely populated with game because of the sweet grass plains dotted with large Marula trees and Knobthorn acacias. These attract an abundance of grazers and browsers, which is inevitably followed by an entourage of predators.
•The big five are often spotted in this area.
•The hippo pool on route S27 is also a highlight and an armed ranger takes you down to the water’s edge about 3km further, allowing you close-up sightings of hippos wallowing in a small pool on the Crocodile River.
•Morning and sunset/night drives may be booked at reception.
